{"id":541,"date":"2025-10-19T05:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-19T08:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oceanfishing.boats\/blog\/?p=541"},"modified":"2026-07-21T02:15:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T05:15:10","slug":"fish-use-list-desynthesis-changes-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oceanfishing.boats\/blog\/?p=541","title":{"rendered":"Fish Use List Desynthesis Changes, Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many items from desynth have been removed beyond pigments and have been noted as such in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1Nb9cnnfmhzJ5Lu-3oeRbwfpXWh5CI8CP-hiVSut4Br8\/edit?gid=1749523623#gid=1749523623\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1Nb9cnnfmhzJ5Lu-3oeRbwfpXWh5CI8CP-hiVSut4Br8\/edit?gid=1749523623#gid=1749523623\" target=\"_blank\">Fish Use List <\/a>spreadsheet.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not known when this change took effect, but it\u2019s reasonable to assume 5.1 when the fixed shard\/crystal\/cluster reward from desynth got homogenised and, as far as we can tell, pigments were removed.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fish most affected by removal are non-big fish. Items that served as the same \u2018flavour\u2019 are removed from many common versions of big fish (ex: Mudstone was removed from Mudcrab but not Mud Golem).<br>In general it seems that non-big fish are allowed 1 additional item in the desynth table while big fish can have 2, with exceptions for fish of either category that desynthed into things that it appears they did not remove from any fish. This allowance also did not stop non-big fish from losing the 1 additional item they did desynth into in many cases.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Removed:<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most, but not all, desynths that were materials gathered by MIN\/BTN (ex: Copper Sand from Copperfish) for non-big fish, especially pre-SB<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potions\/medicine from all non-big fish in ARR and HW<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All grade III materia from SB fish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>V materia from non-big fish that desynthed into both V and VI<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IV materia from non-big fish that desynthed into both IV and V<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Almost all Dark Matter<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preserved:<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All bait\/tackle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All glamour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All furniture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potions\/medicine from all non-big fish in SB<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Almost all weapons and gear (the only one of these it appears that was removed was one of the two tools from Red Hammerhead)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Almost all intermediary crafting items (ex: Zircon from Takitaro). The only removals are on non big-fish that also desynthed into materia (they kept the materia)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dark Matter on ARR big fish and The Impaler (the only HW big fish that didn\u2019t have 2 other items to keep)<\/li>\n<\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several Fish Guide entries for fish that desynthed into a shard\/crystal\/cluster other than water allude to why they don\u2019t, and their desynths were lore appropriate. As an example, <a href=\"https:\/\/ffxiv.gamerescape.com\/wiki\/Sorcerer_Fish\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ffxiv.gamerescape.com\/wiki\/Sorcerer_Fish\" target=\"_blank\">Sorcerer Fish<\/a> desynthed into Fire Crystals while <a href=\"https:\/\/ffxiv.gamerescape.com\/wiki\/Black_Magefish\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ffxiv.gamerescape.com\/wiki\/Black_Magefish\" target=\"_blank\">Black Magefish<\/a> desynthed into Ice; their entries both explain why.
