Bobgoblin Bass & Longest Downtimes

Despite many claims of 40+ day downtimes for Bobgoblin Bass, the longest it has been unavailable for is 39.

After seeing increasingly hyperbolic claims or ones that I was more confident were not true about other fish, I examined some of the ones more often complained about.

Longest downtimes:
Bobgoblin Bass – 39 days (07/03/17 – 14/04/17)
The Ruby Dragon – 31 days (27/11/20 – 27/12/20)
Duskfish – 31 days (25/05/22 – 24/06/22)

With Bobgoblin Bass specifically, the longest period of downtime for each year it’s existed is:
2017: 39 days (07/03/2017 – 14/04/2017)
2018: 25 days (17/12/2018 – 10/01/2019)
2019: 25 days (27/06/2019 – 21/07/2019)
2020: 30 days (28/02/2020 – 28/03/2020)
2021: 26 days (28/03/2021 – 22/04/2021)
2022: 22 days (30/07/2022 – 20/08/2022)

Overall, it’s gone down for periods of 20 – 25 days at least 3 times a year on average, except for 2022.
2018 had a 24 day downtime in addition to 25.

It was released in 2016 but in September and took until November to discover: 45 days (27/09/2016 – 10/11/2016)

To my knowledge this is the longest period of real-world time its taken to discover a fish. Ones that newer players apparently expect to have taken longer are usually [relatively] quick to at least find. The process of narrowing them down takes much longer, naturally.
