This blog is my personal research, notes, and (rarely) thoughts about fishing in FFXIV.
Be aware there is significant backposting currently, slowly, being done as private posts are reformatted to be sensible to an audience as I have the time.

The current purpose is to easily compile and present data collected, testing done or information gathered that is of public interest and worth archiving or will be misplaced otherwise.
The predecessor to this blog was similar, but private, and contained more personal ramblings and anecdotes. The majority of those are removed here but still many posts prior to 2022/2023 are kept out of nostalgia; they are of little to no scholarly merit, if more recent posts are considered to be.
The information here is that which I feel comfortable sharing and having on a public website as a cautious researcher. For most of my time fishing in this game I have done testing and collected data without publishing it at all; that is still largely the case and is also the situation for many other individuals.

All work presented that is not an obvious group effort (big fish discovery, community spreadsheets) or crowdsourced (size records, collated data) is collected by one individual unless otherwise stated, in which case it will be credited as well as possible. As such, none of the work here should be taken as incontestable.

English is not my first language and though I am decent at it I make frequent grammatical and syntax mistakes. If you find any, feel free to let me know.
